Senior (ORC) Water Operator Water Treatment Manager

Job Description:


This position is for experienced candidates performing a wide range of tasks and responsibilities related to the operation and maintenance of the water treatment facilities, water supply facilities, diversions, storage, pumping, exchange operations, water accounting including augmentation, and all related appurtenances of the Triview Metropolitan District and Forest Lakes Metropolitan District. Must interface with Colorado Springs Utilities operations staff to coordinate water deliveries to Triview’s Northern Delivery System.


  • Oversee water operations inspections, lab work, report processing, plant maintenance and repairs, ability to perform water sampling to maintain compliance.
  • Perform well-field inspections and track water table drawdowns. Be familiar with VFD operation, ability to address well problems.
  • Perform water accounting and exchanges of surface water rights.
  • Integrate TMD water system with Colorado Springs Utilities team.


  • Performs safety functions at job sites as needed.
  • Serves On-Call functions as scheduled. Responds to emergency problems as requested. (Must be able to respond to call outs and emergency calls within 1 hour of original call).
  • Completes required maintenance records, logs, and other paperwork as required.
  • Performs water accounting for taking delivery of water from Colorado Springs Utilities.
  • Reports to State to perform water exchanges and run DNR “dashboard” for accounting purposes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Monitors water distribution, wastewater and collection system operations.
  • May be required to work overtime, depending on situational needs.
  • Attends monthly Board meeting to address the Board regarding Water treatment activities.


  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and take corrective action in the operation of water plant(s) and related equipment.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools, and other related equipment.
  • Knowledgeable in water main assembly of valves and related appurtenances.


  • A minimum of a 2-year associate degree in a technical field or a combination of education and experience. Must possess a Colorado class “A” water treatment certification with a minimum of 3 years operator experience.
  • This is a senior-level management position that reports directly to the District Manager. As such this position is considered exempt.


  • Possession of a State of Colorado class “R” driver’s license with no more than six (6) points in a three (3) year period.


Must be able to operate a variety of machines, tools, and equipment; work may be performed from ladders or scaffolding and possibly in hazardous atmospheres. Must be able to lift more than 100 lbs. of force occasionally; must be able to walk, sit, speak, listen, and use hands to manipulate or operate equipment. Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach with hands and arms, climb and balance. Vision requirements include the ability to observe pump and motor operation and other routine monitoring and observation of dials and digital displays. Must be able to read and refer to government regulations, technical manuals, blueprints, and other related documents as required. Must be able to respond and understand personnel safety and emergency response procedures and requirements, this includes the ability to hear and understand sirens, gas detection alarms, and other auditory devices.


Work is performed in all types of climates both indoors and outdoors under variable weather conditions, including high and low temperature extremes. Work areas are often exposed to hazards associated with high voltage electrically operated equipment, and wastewater collection systems including hazardous atmospheres, noxious odors, slippery surfaces, fumes, raw wastewater, confined spaces and chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud; work is subject to frequent fluctuations.

The Treatment Manager must be available to all on-call staff and be available to respond to a variety of emergency incidents 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Salary Range: Annual Salary Range: $90,000 to / 110,000 DOQ.
