Regional cooperation essential to address critical water issues | Guest column
Excerpt from the Tribune: Closer to home, substantial investments are being made to secure renewable water rights. The Triview Metropolitan District in Monument, for instance, has spent nearly $75 million over the past decade acquiring water rights, securing reservoir storage and building water diversion structures. Through a partnership with Colorado Springs Utilities, this renewable water is delivered using Colorado Springs Utilities’ extensive collection, treatment and distribution system.
A key component of this initiative, known as the Northern Delivery System, is a $25 million, 16-inch pipeline that can serve 4,500 homes, apartments and commercial properties.
