Northern Delivery System: One Year Later

The Triview Metro District is proud to celebrate the first anniversary of the Northern Delivery System (NDS), which began operation in August 2024. The 16-inch pipeline is fully integrated within Colorado Springs Utilities’ (CSU) water network, and it gives Triview residents reliable access to renewable water resources. The NDS was the final component needed to deliver Triview’s renewable water rights to our community to meet our growing demands.

Highlights of the NDS:

  • Renewable Water Supply: The NDS supplies Triview and, in the future, nearby Forest Lakes with renewable water, reducing reliance on Denver Basin wells and other non-renewable underground water sources.
  • Infrastructure Integration: With more than $30 million in improvements, the project connects to CSU’s treatment and distribution facilities at the Highway 83 water tank to Triview’s storage tanks at Sanctuary Park (C-Plant tank) and Promontory Pointe (B-Plant tank), along with Triview’s water distribution system.
  • Community Impact: Today, more than 2,500 properties benefit from a renewable, sustainable water supply, supporting both current needs and future growth.

Shift from Denver Basin Wells to Renewable Water Delivered by the NDS

The numbers tell an exciting story about our transition to renewable water through the NDS. In just one year, renewable water deliveries through the NDS skyrocketed—from about 1 million gallons in August 2024 to nearly 33 million gallons by June 2025! This incredible milestone reflects our community’s remarkable transition toward renewable water and celebrates the success of our long-term commitment to a sustainable water future.

Winterize Your Sprinkler System

As daylight wanes and temperatures start to dip, now is the time to winterize your sprinkler system to prevent potential costly damage. Draining your system ensures that no water remains in the pipes that could freeze and cause cracks or ruptures. A few simple steps can help you avoid that hassle.

Tips for Winterizing Your System:

  • Schedule a Professional Blowout:
A trained professional uses professional-grade equipment to safely and completely clear water from your pipes and sprinkler heads, greatly reducing the risk of freeze damage.
  • Plan for Spring Maintenance: Many sprinkler companies also offer spring start-up services. This is the perfect time to check for broken sprinkler heads or other issues that may have arisen during the winter.
  • Disconnect Hoses & Shut Off Water: Detach garden hoses from outdoor faucets and shut off the water supply. This quick task helps prevent frozen pipes and expensive repairs.

Taking these precautions will protect your irrigation system and outdoor plumbing, ensuring everything is ready for use once spring arrives.

Higby Road Improvements — Construction Updates & Project Website Now Live!

The highly anticipated improvements to Higby Road are officially underway! The project will be completed in two phases:

  • Phase One (In Progress): Started in September, a 3,600-foot section will be improved from Bowstring Road to just east of the Harness Road intersection.
  • Phase Two (Coming Soon): Targeted for completion by fall 2026, this phase will extend improvements west from Bowstring Road to Jackson Creek Parkway.

These enhancements will improve safety, ease traffic congestion and support our growing community for years to come. For the latest updates on the project, visit our project website: triviewhigbyroad.com

Thank you for your continued support in making these improvements possible.

The Triview Metro District parks team continues to maintain and beautify our outdoor spaces, including tree and shrub replacements where needed, and seasonal preparation efforts to ensure every park is ready for high usage during warmer months.

The improvements completed across the district represent an investment in the health, recreation and well-being of our community. Whether you’re walking your dog on a trail, watching a game from under a pergola, or enjoying a quiet moment at one of our upgraded parks, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We encourage you to explore all of our parks and let us know what you think. Email us your feedback at info@triviewmetro.com to help us plan the next phase of improvements with your needs in mind.
