Triview Metropolitan District (Triview), a special district in the Town of Monument, Colorado, is located about 20 miles north of Colorado Springs. Triview maintains approximately 50 miles of roads and 75 acres of parks and open space, including 12 parks. The District serves approximately 10,000 customers and is governed by a five-member Board of Directors elected by property owners within the District.
Job Description
Wage: $28.00–$38.00 per hour, depending on experience
Status: Full-time, non-exempt (overtime eligible)
Position Summary
Under limited supervision, the Irrigation Technician helps manage the District’s irrigation systems. The Technician works with the Public Works Manager and the Lead Irrigation Technician on strategies for effective water management. This position performs skilled work in the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems. During the winter season, the Irrigation Technician assists with snow and ice removal and other projects as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists field personnel with diagnosing and troubleshooting irrigation-related problems.
- Installs and troubleshoots many types and models of irrigation controllers, including electrical troubleshooting of all system components.
- Maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots control valves of various sizes and types.
- Maintains detailed records of maintenance activities and updates GIS maps to reflect as-builts.
- Secures all materials and equipment needed for the job and keeps them in good condition.
- Maintains positive working relationships with residents, customers, and co-workers.
- Performs other duties as assigned. All Triview staff support other departments when necessary.
Required Skills
The Technician must be proficient in the following:
- Repairing poly and PVC pipe
- Water management
- Sprinkler head and valve repair, replacement, and adjustment
- Irrigation controller programming, including smart controllers such as ET Water, BaseLine, WeatherTRAK, and SmartLink
- Copper pipe soldering
- Backflow repairs
- Irrigation system winterization and blowouts
- Irrigation mainline repair
- Rain sensor setup, troubleshooting, and operation
Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in irrigation installation and/or irrigation maintenance
- Supervisory experience
- Valid Colorado driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must pass a background check consisting of employment history, personal/professional references, criminal records and drug screening.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English
- Dependability, efficient work practices, and a professional appearance (uniform provided)
- Commitment to staying current with emerging industry trends and irrigation technology
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Works outdoors most of the time, in all temperatures and weather conditions.
- Regularly bends, stoops, reaches, walks, and lifts, especially when maintaining in-ground irrigation systems.
- Must be able to safely operate heavy equipment and digging tools, including backhoes, dump trucks, front-end loaders, small and large trenchers, shovels, and augers. Irrigation systems are often buried and must be excavated for maintenance.
- May be exposed to dust, grease, noise, and chemical vapors. The District provides personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Must be available to be on call for irrigation emergencies.

- Hourly wage of $28.00–$38.00, depending on experience
